Phuket, Thailand’s largest island is located in the balmy waters of the Andaman Sea, approximately 850 kilometers south of Bangkok (just over 1 hour’s flight time). Famous for its golden beaches that stretch for almost 50 kilometers along the island’s western coast,Phuket also features mountainous tropical forests and natural mangrove plantations.

Separated from the mainland by a narrow channel that links the Andaman Sea to the mystical waters and spectacular limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, Phuket provides for an extensive range of holiday activities. Eco-adventures and elephant trekking through the luscious greenery of the forests; canoeing amongst the caves and lagoons of the calm blue waters in Phang Nga; golfing on championship courses; shopping in modern, spacious malls; browsing in the colorful markets; relaxing on the palm-fringed beaches – Phuket is the ideal destination for combining the desired surgery with a wonderful holiday.

For those who love the sun, the peak holiday time is between November and April when the North-East monsoon winds bring warm weather, often quite humid, to Phuket. From May through to November the prevailing winds are from the South bringing, at times, impressive tropical downpours, usually in the evening. During this “cool” season, Phuket is quieter and, for those looking for a more tranquil holiday, perhaps more desirable.
